c) As the time for your trip draws nearer you may find cars available on heavy discount, because they are lying idle.
d) Pick your car in town instead of having it delivered to you at airport. It will reduce costs. Generally free shuttles are given from airport to car rental location.
e) Ask for the smallest car which will suit you. Most probably the car rental company will not have it free; therefore, it will upgrade you to next bigger car at the cost of small car.
f) Find about discounts, ask your car rental firm if there are discounts on rates for daily or weekly rents. Whether they give discounts for members of AAA, USAA, AARP or other organizations. If you work in a big company you may look for corporate discount.
g) Fill up the rented car before returning it to prevent yourself from being over charged per gallon by car rental company.
